PI (Polyimide) film is widely used in flexible copper-clad laminate applications. One of its key benefits is its excellent heat resistance, which enables it to withstand high temperatures over long periods, reaching up to 260°C. Moreover, the PI film can endure brief high temperatures exceeding 400°C while maintaining good fire resistance.
Adhesive-less in flexible copper-clad laminate is manufactured without adhesives, while adhesive in flexible copper-clad laminate use adhesives to bond the layers of the laminate.
The difference between these two types of flexible copper-clad laminate is their flexibility. Thinner PI laminates used in adhesive-less in flexible copper-clad laminate have better flexible bending capacity than thicker laminates used in the adhesive in flexible copper-clad laminate.
Thicker PI laminates used in flexible copper-clad laminate adhesives are more expensive than their thinner counterparts used in adhesive-less in flexible copper-clad laminate. Additionally, adhesive-less in flexible copper-clad laminate is more expensive than adhesive in flexible copper-clad laminate due to the extra manufacturing steps required to produce them.
